Before you say "I Do": Wedding Day Prep Tips for Radiant Skin on your Big Day
So, you've said yes to the dress, the venue is booked, and now it's time to ensure your skin is as radiant as your love on the big day. At The Essence, we've got the scoop on a wedding prep timeline that will have you glowing from the inside out. Here's our guide to achieving the most luminous skin for your walk down the aisle.
Depending on your skin concerns, every journey looks different and we suggest always book an early consultation with your skin expert, at least 12-9 months before your big day. This allows them to create a personalized treatment plan and skincare regimen tailored to your needs, concerns, and lifestyle.
Here’s a timeline we share with all of our brides- consider this as a wedding planner’s schedule, but from a medical aesthetician's POV:
-
6-9 Months Before: Microneedling, Targeted Peels & Laser Facials
Medical Grade treatments are more intensive and set to target more stubborn concerns like fine lines, inflammation, acne scars, uneven texture, rosacea and pigmentation, and may need to be performed in a series, so it’s best to start them as early as possible. It's like giving your skin a little love tap to wake it up and start the glow-up process.
-
3 Months Before: Monthly Customized Facials & Lymphatic Drainage Massages
Commit to monthly customized facials for that extra boost of radiance. These facials will be tailored to your skin's specific needs, ensuring you're on the right track to that wedding day glow. Couple that with monthly lymphatic drainage massages to speed up your metabolism, detoxify and sculpt your body and reinforce a natural glow for a healthy body and skin.
-
1-2 Months Before: Wrinkle Smoothing & Dermal Filler Touch Ups
You can never go wrong with some botox and filler to smooth out lines and creases, and fill in any hollow areas ahead of your big day. The secret is to keep it minimal and elegant and always trust your injector’s advice. Touch up on your botox and dermal filler at least 1 month before the big day for the most natural looking results. You need to give the filler and botox time to set and allow yourself enough time to see your injector again if you need any touch ups or additional units. Keep in mind that minimal bruising is normal after injections, so make sure this appointment is not last-minute.
-
2-3 Days Before: Custom Facial with Dermaplaning & Lymphatic Drainage Massage
It's crunch time! Book your wedding day prep facial with dermaplaning 2-3 days before the wedding. This facial should focus on hydration, nourishment and giving your skin an undeniable glow! A final lymphatic drainage massage should help to debloat & sculpt your body, and detoxify from within, for your most naturally toned and radiant self ever.
When it comes to Bridal Hair and Makeup:
- Communicate with your beauty team what your expectations are. Send them your inspo for your look, photos of your dress and accessories and any important details you want them to know.
- Make sure to book a trial at least 2 months before the wedding- to zone in on the look you want and have your beauty team on the same page.
- Have freshly washed hair the morning of your wedding and wear a robe while getting glammed.
Pro tips:
- Stick to a skincare routine your skin is loving for at least 3 months before the big day. Avoid trying new products the month prior to prevent any unwanted reactions or sensitivities. If you are aware of any sensitivities- communicate them with your skin therapist and makeup artist.
- Avoid eating very salty foods the night before the wedding. No one wants puffy eyes!
- Do not forget your beauty sleep! No amount of makeup or skincare can compensate for a good night’s rest.
Get ready to absolutely glow on your big day and be the most radiant & confident version of yourself when you say “I do”
